Terms of Note

Following are common terms used within most Bean Me! books.
3D’s – Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive, Dodge. Seriously, Block, Dodge, and Parry
3F’s – Fight, Flight, or Fright, always in that order
3P’s – HP/WP/EP
AB – Attack Bonus, chances of hitting people, the higher it is the more likely you are to hit
Ability - Abilities are specialized actions gained through racial bonuses or acquiring Major Skills that use 3P’s to increase their effectiveness
APP – Armour Protection Points, extra protection provided by armour
AR – Armour Rating, total defence outcome of a 3D against being attacked, the higher it is the harder you are to hit
Attribute – Basis of all rules governing actions taken within the world
AC – Avoidance Chance, used when attempting to avoid area of effect attacks
BC – Break Chance, odds of breaking an object with a single action, involves leverage, damage, and strength
BR – Break Resistance, odds of an object surviving an attempt to be broken, based on material and thickness
Campaign – The current story the Players are progressing through, usually takes multiple sessions to complete and with the same OM
CD – Cool Down, action happens now and you wait before being able to act again
Check – Using an Attribute/Skill to accomplish or prevent something, unless otherwise stated use associated Attribute’s Mod
Core – The base rules of the Bean Me! system
CT – Charge Time, action happens at the end of the NAR, can choose to end early to perform other tasks
DAP – Defensive Action Point, spent to perform 3D’s and other defensive actions
Dice – An array of dice from as low as four sides to as many as one hundred sides, usually shown as ‘#d#’, the first number indicating how many rolls of the dice, the second number being how many sides of the dice to be used (i.e. 3d6)
DP – Durability Points, the equivalent of HP of non-living things
DR – Damage Reduction, amount of damage subtracted per hit
DREAD – Damage, Range, Effect, Area, Duration, how magic users modify their Spells
EP – Energy Points, mental/spiritual energy for casting Spells or the like
Exp – Experience or Experience Points are gained from performing tasks such as fighting and is used to determine approximate power in relation to the rest of the universe
HP – Hit or Health Points, how much damage you can take before dying
Init – Initiative, decides order of combat
Major Skill – Customizable character options generally combat orientated
Minor Skill – Customizable character options meant to flesh out a character but are not generally meant for combat
Mod – Mod is short for Attribute Modifier which is the Stat divided by 2 and rounded down
MS - Mental Shielding, a defence against mental attacks
NAR – Number of Actions a Round, spent on actions such as Abilities and Spells
NLD – Non Lethal Damage, this damage type does not necessarily kill a person but can knock them unconscious
NPC – Non-Player Character, a being in the world controlled by the OM
OM – Over Master, the person running the game and controlling everything other than the Players and their characters
PC – Player Character, a being in the world controlled by a Player
Physics Engine – The rules describing roughly how the world should work, often found in the Random Rules section of a book
Player – A person controlling a character within the world
PR - Physical Resistance, used in defence against things that assault the body
Random Rule – A rule that may or may not be necessary for game play
RAP – Reserved Action Point, wait for the next NAR before acting
Round – 12seconds, usually used in combat and duration descriptions
RR – Reserved Round, reserving some of a Round’s NAR for the next
RSP – Reflex Stat Penalty, a penalty suffered from wearing burdensome armour and/or shields
Session – A consecutive period of play time where the OM/amount of Players does not change
Spell - Spells are specialized magics gained through racial bonuses or acquiring Major Skills that use 3P’s to increase their effectiveness, they are always listed in DREAD format most often in a Spell table
SR – Success Rating, Total of a Minor Skill roll
Stat – Stat is short for Attribute Status Point which is what you roll dice for to determine when first creating your character
Supplement – An addition to the Core or a specific Template meant to improve gameplay
Template – A storyline and amassed pertinent information to the story
World - The planet/universe the Campaign takes place in
WP – Weapon Points, also seen as the stamina used for special Abilities
